Check your plastic type.

Accepted Plastic Types: Currently, we accept plastic types 2 and 5. Type 2 refers to HDPE plastic, which stands for High Density Polyethylene. Type 5 is known as PP, which stands for Polypropylene. Many product manufacturers now clearly indicate the type of plastic they use, usually by imprinting it on the bottom or underneath the item. Please note that these imprints may sometimes be small and hard to locate. If you're uncertain or unable to find the plastic number on your item, we recommend not including it for recycling. You can always reach out to us through social media or email, and we'll be happy to assist you.

*Not Accepted: We do not currently recycle Type 1 (PETE) plastic.*

This includes clear, shiny plastics commonly found in *water bottles,* soda and juice bottles, clear food containers (such as boxed leafy greens, and small tomatoes), and most single use plastic cups. Additionally, we are unable to recycle any type of wrap or shrink film, even if it falls under plastic types 2 or 5.

Rinse and clean your plastic.

This often times just means a quick rinse so there is no leftover food or residue left behind. Our plastic is recycled once, then washed, and then shredded further. This prevents our shredder from becoming contaminated.

Remove labels.

Labels used with plastics come in various forms, including paper, printed materials, and different types of plastic. It's important to note that not all labels can be recycled. Certain items, such as detergent bottles and food containers, have printing directly on the plastic surface. Some labels consist of paper with a removable glue that we can easily remove during our washing process. However, there are also plastic labels, like the plastic wrapper around a soda bottle, that our machines are unable to remove.

To ensure proper recycling, always remember to remove any plastic film or wrappers from your plastic items before recycling them. This helps us streamline the recycling process and maintain its efficiency.
